Comateens - 1980-1985 2019 320😎

Comateens were formed in New York in 1978 by Ramona Jan (guitar), Nicholas Dembling (aka Nick O. Teen, Nick North, Nick West) (bass, vocals), and a drum machine. After Lyn Byrd (synthesizer, vocals), Oliver North (guitar, vocals) and Harry Viderci (drums) joined the group, they recorded their first single, The Ramona Jan-penned songs Danger Zone and Elizabeth's Lover (not released at the time) and Diana Dominicci's Cool Chick. Jan left the band in 1980 and Comateens recorded their self-titled debut LP in 1981. The album became a cult favorite among college hipsters, especially the band's remake of “The Munsters Theme". However, the Comateens actually gained a larger following in Europe, wherein the group's quirks – such as the necrophilia tale “Cool Chick" – were more easily digested. The band released two more LPs – 1983's Pictures on a String and 1984's Deal With It – and then split up in 1985. Byrd and Nicholas West (Dembling) eventually reunited in West and Byrd.

This set contains the three albums released by Comateens with bonus cd of demo's.

CD1 - Self titled debut album from 1981

CD2 - Pictures On A String from1983

CD3 - Deal With It from 1984

CD4 - Demo's

2019 - The Best of Townes Van Zandt

2019 - The Best of Townes Van Zandt (Flac)

Townes Van Zandt was an influential American singer-songwriter known for his profound storytelling and emotional depth in music. Born into a Texas family with a background in oil and cattle ranching, his life took a challenging turn during adolescence when he faced mental health struggles, leading to various treatments. Despite these difficulties, he developed a passion for music, drawing inspiration from artists like Lightnin' Hopkins and Bob Dylan. Van Zandt began performing in the 1960s, crafting songs that often depicted the lives of drifters and working-class individuals, and he gained recognition for his unique voice and poignant lyrics.

Over his career, Van Zandt released several albums, including notable works such as *Our Mother the Mountain* and *The Late Great Townes Van Zandt*, the latter featuring some of his most famous songs like "Pancho and Lefty." His music, characterized by a blend of country, folk, and blues, resonated with both critics and fellow musicians, leading to covers by artists like Willie Nelson and Emmylou Harris. Despite facing personal challenges, including a struggle with alcohol, Van Zandt's legacy endures, highlighted by posthumous releases and a film about his life after his unexpected death in 1997. His work continues to inspire and influence generations of musicians within the Americana and country music genres. (EBSCO)
