House Of All - Three albums

* These days everyone seems to love The Fall, but rarely has a band's rise to cult status been quite as lengthy, unpredicted and unprecedented as that of the group of druggy Mancunian misfits who went through more line-up comings and goings than anyone sane would care to count.

Martin Bramah, The Fall's singer until Mark E Smith's lesser guitar skills caused them to swap places, was, per Daryl Easlea, "possibly the last true equal to Smith in the group" and likewise the longest survivor of the original line-up.

Yet while The Fall become famed in part for their legendary productivity, Bramah often went great spans of time between releases, releasing fewer albums in thirty-five years (under any guise) than he has in the last seven with Blue Orchids - who already have a fantastic new album in the can.

What caused HOUSE Of ALL to come together is something of a mystery. Bramah has joined forces with four other mighty Fall alumni: Steve Hanley, The Fall's longest-serving bassist, as well as his brother Paul Hanley, who drummed on what may be the best run of Fall records, from "Grotesque" to "Bend Sinister". The three has also played together as Factory Star, for a brief period. Joining them are two surprise members - drummer Simon Wolstencroft, who joined the Fall around the time Paul left, and more surprisingly, guitarist Pete Greenway, The Fall's long- serving and final guitarist who has, to our knowledge, never played with any of the other four before.

And the album? Recorded in a burst of intense creativity, we won't attempt to propagandise you, as the album speaks loudly for itself, but it wouldn't be a false boast to claim that it stands with much of the best Fall or Blue Orchids music, with an energy and impulse all its own, each member playing as sharply and with as much drive as they ever have, around a kind of motorik- groove energy and with a shocking lack of 'compromise'. It's an album of depth which demands re-listening to uncover its many dimensions, yet satisfies upon first listen.

House of All is the band formed by former members of The Fall, following the death of frontman Mark E. Smith in 2018. Four years later, Mancunians Martin Bramah (vocals, guitar), Peter Greenway (guitar), Steve Hanley (bass) and his brother Paul Hanley (drums), along with Simon Wolstencroft (drums) decided to follow up this post-punk flagship and reunited under the name House of All. Housed on the Tiny Global Productions label, the band recorded their first album of the same name under the guidance of Martin Beddington, who also worked on the follow-up Continuum (2024). Between May 2023 and March 2024, the five musicians were invited by the BBC to deliver several recorded performances, released in a limited edition in November 2024 under the title Gaudy Pop Sensations: House of All at the BBC. Then, back in the studio, they worked on their third album, House of All Souls, released in 2025. Karl Burns, who played on the very first records by The Fall, left and returned a few times, joins for the latest House Of All album 2025. *

* These three albums in flac are for Peter in Oz, thought I had already posted them here, but it was on another site, I am a member of and the links were still active so when Peter asked for two of the three albums, I thought I would share all three of them here on Vibes as well in Flac. *

The Dylans - Spirit Finger (1994) @320

* The neo-psychedelic British band the Dylans formed in Sheffield, England in 1989 around the nucleus of vocalist/bassist Colin Gregory and guitarists Jim Rodger and Andy Curtis. Before ever even performing live, the group won a contract with Beggars Banquet in the summer of 1990, and after recruiting keyboardist Quentin Jennings and drummer Garry Jones they made their concert debut in the early weeks of the following year. The Dylans' first single "Godlike" appeared not long after, reaching the Top Ten on the U.K. indie charts; after replacing Curtis with guitarist Andy Cook, they returned with the two-sided "Lemon Afternoon"/"My Hands Are Tied." After a third indie hit, "Planet Love," the Dylans issued their self-titled debut LP in October 1991. In the wake of a grueling tour, they resurfaced in 1992 with the single "Mary Quaint in Blue," even as the group seemed in a constant state of flux — after Jones was fired, Cook switched to drums, and Craig Scott was recruited on guitar; soon Jennings, who had taken a leave of absence to care for his ill wife, was replaced by keyboardist Ike Glover. By the time of their second LP, late 1993's Spirit Finger, the face of British pop music had altered dramatically, and the Dylans now seemed dated; the record fared poorly, and they soon disbanded. *

 * If anyone would like a Flac version of this please ask for it in the comments including your email address, don't panic, we won't post your address in the comments. Or request the Flac via an email to the site address, which is on the top post "about this Site" on the right. This offer of Flac is limited, you have 7 days to request the Flac version. *
