 Water Damage - Repair 320

For the members of Water Damage, this is the ideal way to experience “Down on the Street.” On their latest double-album colossus, Repair, the amorphous Austin collective—whose ranks include ex-Swan gong-smasher Thor Harris, Spray Paint’s George Dishner, the Piwonka brothers from Expensive Shit, and Mari Maurice Rubio (aka more eaze), among others—devote the entire third side to “Reel 43: Down on the Street,” which isn’t so much a cover of The Stooges’ song as a live-band remix that essentially loops its main riff for 18 minutes straight. Once one of their hypnotic forays into densely layered and abrasive trance-noise takes off, it progresses until reaching transcendence—which usually doesn't take very long—and continues oscillating once they've reached that interdimensional space.
