X-O-Dus – English Black Boys (2012) Flac

* X-O-Dus (originally named Exodus) were a Manchester roots reggae band with members from Hulme and Moss Side. They initially formed in mid 1975; the founder members being brothers Honey and Leddy Ricketts along with Trevor Bell, and Dave Reid. These original members were joined in 1978 by Ricky Jones, Johnny Caton and Gayle Reid. They changed the name to X-O-Dus to avoid confusion with a London reggae band, and aimed to give a new, young British sound to reggae. X-O-Dus released one 12" on Factory (FAC 11), produced by Dennis Bovell, though the planned follow up single and LP failed to materialise. *

Tracks 1, 2: originally released as X-O-Dus - English Black Boys12" single on Factory Records in 1980.
Tracks 3-9: recorded at Drone, studio demos for an unreleased Factory album.
Track 10: originally released as white label 12" in 1992.
Track 11: recent studio track by a workshop band featuring X-O-Dus rhythm guitarist.
All tracks digitally restored and remastered in January 2012.
