* Box Of Vibes day again, comes round faster every week, so Box 27, starting with my (Reb) tunes from 1 to 8 and then we get Andy's tracks from 7 to 16 and then Concha closes the box with her selections from 17 to 24 *
Now that I've looked up the lyrics in Spanish, I understand why it's your favorite song. Even though I don't believe what the lyrics say, it's still a song I really like because it has a beautiful melody. 🙏
Looks like a particularly strong set this week. Thanks as always. Like Moezeke, Spirit In The Sky has always been a favourite of mine although I couldn't name another song by Mr. Greenbaum! Any suggestions?
You're welcome Keven, not a Greenbaum fan, so pointless asking me lol. I know the song from the Doctor & The Medics cover version to be honest. Of course I've listen to the original, but only that track. I bit too hippy dippy for my tastes.
Hey Keven... I'm an old-er guy I lived though the late 50's and 60's music scene ( the heart of Rock n' Rock ) Although I can't consider myself a hippy back then. Dress codes and hair styles were very strict in the day. No sneakers or casual clothes in school. Music was a way for the kids to rebel against the norms of the 50's & 60's. The long hair and crazy garb/clothes came after graduation. Again only a small percentage of "kids" followed those trends. So in 60's Jr High School... I remember wearing dress slacks that were black & white checked and also remember having iridescent blue slacks along with a polkadot shirt and skinny neck-ties that were of outrageous colors... "e.g.," neon orange!!! Oh yeah! Noman Greenbaum... his X wives (allegedly) took his kit and caboodle and but left him the rights to Spirit in The Sky. I hear tell he was even a short order cook after that debacle. But the song (Spirt in The Sky) was used in the movie "... Apollo 13 and several other movies... which earned him buku amounts of $$$$. So someone is watching out for dear old Norman!!! Yeah! he was also in a Jug Band.
Concha - you know 'Spirit in the Sky' is my 'timeless' favorite.
