My posts here on Vibes.
* I made the decision some time ago, to stop posting Flac or Wav posts here on Vibes, this will be the future for my shares only as 320. If somebody submits an album to us in Flac or Wav then I will continue to post this in that format. And this has been perfect for me, saves me having to store massive amounts of Flac in external HD's, and as I said a while ago, I will not be re upping any of my posts in Flac or 320, you have long enough to take what is shared here. *
* I have been sharing between three and sometimes five posts per, but as these are often double CD's or box sets, then this pushes the figure much higher. So from today I am going to start dropping that to maybe one, two or maybe even none per day in 320. *
* So just been thinking what ever I post will be between 10am and 1pm, if there are no shares between these hours from me, then there won't be anything from me on that day. *
* Box Of Vibes will still be posted here on a Tueday's, but it isn't included s one of my shares for that day. Because these are team effort, they are the only thing I share that I will happily re up. *
* I want to spend some time properly sorting my digital music, and re-arranging how and where I store this, an on going probelm! I keep a back up of all my files, after losing a HD, after this failure and all I lost, I decided to have two copies of everything as a back up, these takes more time, things need to change! *
* I am also involved in some other music projects and I have let these slide since Vibes was opened and need to get back to these! *
* So I will still be here and sharing but not as much, that's the long and the short of it, hope you understand. *
* Thanks to all of you who take the time to thank the uploaders here on Vibes, but sadly downloads are getting higher and higher and the comments are getting less and less, and this does need to change. *
* Once I get my digital music sorted as I want it, I will most likely return to my normal schedule of posting, but you never know do ya. *

1972 - Captain Beefheart - Clear Spot (Flac)
Producer Ted Templeman was a bit of a surprising choice given his firmly mainstream production credits, with the Doobie Brothers already under his belt and Van Halen lurking in the near future. As it turned out, such a combination led to a better-working fusion than might be expected, making one wonder why in the world Clear Spot wasn't more of a commercial success than it was. The sound is great throughout, and the feeling is of the coolest bar-band in town, not to mention one that could eat all the patrons for breakfast if it felt like it. Consequently, fans of the fully all-out side of Beefheart might find the end result not up to snuff, but those less concerned with pushing back all borders all the time will enjoy his unexpected blend of everything tempered with a new accessibility. "Nowadays a Woman's Got to Hit a Man," besides having a brilliant title, shows the balance perfectly -- Van Vliet serves up his rough asides with all his expected wit and sass, while the Magic Band trade off notes here and there just so. At the same time, the track is strong blues-rock that doesn't pander, with a particularly fierce solo thanks to Zoot Horn Rollo. "My Head Is My Only House Unless It Rains" is a great love song, the softer arrangement saved from being too off by Beefheart's delivery. Other winners include the title track, a sharp combination of an off-kilter arrangement for a straightforward melody, the great shaggy-dog story of "Golden Birdies," and "Big Eyed Beans from Venus," a fantastically strange piece of aggression. Various - Box Of Vibes No. 20 (C-R-A) (2026) 320
* Boxes Of Vibes day again, here we have Box 20, wow Box 20 already!! Concha opens vol 20 with her selections from track one to track eight. Then my (Reb) selections are in the middle section this week, with tracks nine to sixteen and Andy closes this week with his selections from track seventeen to twenty four, *
*Because these were compiled over a two to three week period, about six months ago, I forget what tracks are in each one, they are stored in an external HD, and each week I move just the one, I will be posting that week into the laptop. And enjoy playing it again. *
* Any feedback on these homemade compilations of a mix of genres, alternative versions and cover versions, would be most welcome, positive or negative. *
* For me we don't need art work, we let the music talk, after all it's all about the music selected!! Just a screenshot of the tracklist on the post is perfect. *
